Wasp

Wasp

Watching a wasp, at least I believe
It is a wasp outside this window
Nine stories high
On the banks of the Ohio
Receding from the flood
At least I think
The flitting shape, against the blue sky
Is a wasp but I cannot
See color, it is a just a black shape
Of approximately the proper shape
And the size, the size, while large
To me is in the range of
Possibility, of approximate size
And shape flitting
Against the blue sky
With some scalloped clouds
While I sit
Sunday morning, drinking coffee
Writing poetry, listening to Gram
Parsons, resisting any movement
Even the smallest movement
Of investigation or
Knowing, about even a wasp
Exploring what it means for
A non-theist to keep
Holy the sabbath
Holy holy holy
To find in not-knowing
If just for this moment on this day
Respite and refuge
On the ninth floor
Looking out a window
Near the Ohio
Flood receding
And a wasp or something near
Builds a nest
All beings
Finding refuge
July morning
Holy holy holy
