Unknown Gratitude
Awareness has been
Thrust upon me
My brother said
I visited you each day
I walked over each day
At lunch, 15 minute walk
Stayed for 30 minutes
While you ate lunch
You often gave me
Your jello
Because you could
Eat no more
And on weekends
I drove there
Each day
And I remember
None of this
None of these visits
While I was locked
Down to cure
A brain haywire
Undergoing electro-shock
Three times a week
To fix faulty neurons
I cry as I write
These lines
As I have each day
Since he said this
Casually while painting
And I can never thank him
Enough for every one of those
